Apprenticeship success for Craig

G5 are delighted to announce the recruitment of their first apprentice, Craig Chadwick, as a full time member of staff.

Speaking about his journey into full time employment in IT, Craig said: “Before I started the apprenticeship programme I was working with the Council and found it hard to find IT job openings or speak to any companies. I was searching for IT based jobs online when I came across the QA programme and I knew this was a great opportunity as it provided both training and experience working within a business.

After a short relaxed interview, QA decided I was worthy of joining the programme and in the space of two weeks, QA had arranged many job interviews for me with both local and international businesses. I was lucky enough to get a placement with G5.

Commenting on the appointment, Business Manager Kate Wemyss said: “The apprenticeship program was completely new to us at G5 but it sounded interesting and we decided to give it a go. We were so impressed with Craig we decided to employ him full time at the end of his apprenticeship. Craig has proved himself not only with his customer service skills but with his initiative and thirst for IT knowledge; he is a fantastic addition to the team.

Ross Devine, apprenticeship account manager for QA (North) added “The passion, commitment and attention to detail show by G5 and Craig during the apprenticeship programme has been outstanding. Their overall approach is one that we would recommend other companies in Scotland look to as an example of best practice when facilitating modern apprenticeship programmes in the work place.
