Protect your organisation against cyber attack

A cyber attack can come in many shapes and sizes, but the vast majority are very simple in nature, carried out by relatively unskilled people. A cyber attack can often be the digital equivalent of a thief trying your front door to see if it’s unlocked.

What is Cyber Essentials?

Cyber Essentials is a simple but effective, Government backed scheme which can help your business protect itself from cyber attack.

If you go through the Cyber Essentials certification process it will help you to protect your organisation against a whole range of the most common cyber attacks.

How can I help protect my organisation against Cyber attack?

The government’s Cyber Security Breaches Survey 2018 found that more than 43% of businesses experienced a cyber security breach or cyber attack in 2017. The financial effects of these breaches can be considerable. For a medium-sized business, they estimated the average cost of a data breach as over £16,000. This makes the cost of applying for the Cyber Essentials certification a bit of a no brainer!

Not everyone has the time or resources needed to develop a full-on cyber security system. So Cyber Essentials is designed to fit with whatever level of commitment you are able to sustain. There are three levels of engagement:

  1. The simplest is to familiarise yourself with cyber security terminology, gaining enough knowledge to begin securing your IT
  2. If you need more certainty in your cyber security, you can go for basic, or entry level Cyber Essentials certification
  3. For those who want to take cyber security further, you can go for Cyber Essentials Plus certification.

How can G5 help me with Cyber Essentials?

You can ask G5 for advice or help with any of your cyber security concerns plus we are able to help you gain your Cyber Essentials certification.

Cameron from G5 is a Cyber Essentials ACE Practitioner. This certification is held by individuals who have been trained in the testing of the requirements of the Cyber Essentials scheme up to the Cyber Essential Plus requirements. This means that Cameron can help your business to protect itself from cyber attack through the Cyber Essentials certification.

Being Cyber Essentials certified can help your company in many ways:

  • Help protect your company from a Cyber Attack
  • Reassure your customers and employees that you take cyber security seriously
  • Be listed on the Directory of organisations awarded Cyber Essentials
  • Attract new business with the knowledge that you have cyber security measures in place.

Achieving Cyber Essentials or Cyber Essentials Plus certification, which is renewed annually, will help protect your organisation against these common everyday threats and potentially give you a significant commercial advantage as it demonstrates you are an organisation with good IT security practices, providing reassurance to your customers that you are working to secure both your IT systems and their data against cyber-attacks.

You are able to apply for Cyber Essentials in it’s current form up until 31st March 2020.
